Mr. Diaz graduated from Loyola Law School where he studied an extensive entertainment law curriculum, learning from some of the greatest and most respected legal minds and professionals in the entertainment industry. During his time there, he interned at a boutique entertainment law practice in Santa Monica, the Law Offices of William Hochberg, and later at International Creative Management (ICM).
After being admitted to the State Bar of California in 2007, Mr. Diaz began working at the Law Offices of William Hochberg, providing him with experience in music, television, contracts, collective bargaining agreements, trademark, and other areas of the law.
Meanwhile, Mr. Diaz also volunteered with the Employee Rights Project at Bet Tzedek Legal Services where he helped represent indigent workers in settlement negotiations with former employers who had not paid their earned wages, and interviewed survivors of the Holocaust to assist with filing claims for reparations from the German government.
Mr. Diaz then went to work for the Bettinger Law Group, PC, a business transactional law firm. There, he was able to hone his skills drafting agreements, corporate documents, business entity formation applications and trademark applications.
For over ten (10) years, Mr. Diaz has been operating his own practice. He quickly became general counsel for an independent motion picture production company. As such, he handled the formation of their limited liability company (LLC), drafting and filing the required documents, drafting of all employment contracts for talent, contracts with sponsors, music licensing, liability releases, and right of publicity waivers. Since then, he has provided similar services for numerous start ups and existing companies in entertainment and other industries including online retail, brick & mortar, wholesale import and social media.
Drawing from the advice, experience and mentoring of attorneys of counsel, Mr. Diaz has expanded his practice to include DUI and misdemeanor criminal defense as well as commercial real estate transactions. As early as 2016, Mr. Diaz applied his skills to help students with special needs get the proper services and supports, sometimes including changing placement to a more appropriate classroom or school, as required under federal and state laws. Mr. Diaz has helped over 70 families enforce and/or correct their child's IEP (Individualized Education Program) against numerous school districts in Southern California. Providing this service, Mr. Diaz has helped these students get true value out of their right to a Free and Appropriate Public Educate (FAPE) under the federal statute, The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
